Julie Griffin

Co Office Manager

Julie Griffin, a forever young and current “seasoned” dancer has immersed herself in the world of dance since she was three. Her love of all styles and willingness to try new ones keeps her youthful. She and her husband have five children: four boys and one girl who danced with Dean/Black’s competitive team (DTU) until the spring of ’23. Having been a dance mom to her daughter, but an advocate and super spirited fan for all the Dean/Black dancers, she is known to the dancers as “Mama G”, “Auntie G” or “Miss Julie”.

Julie has lived in the suburbs of Chicago, Florida, outside Nashville, TN, Missouri, the Bay Area of California and now Midland where she has found her forever home. She has a BA in Elementary Education, taught middle school for four years, and then became a professional, full-time mom. Upon moving here, she and her daughter enrolled at Dean/Black. In her first year here, (during the “off season”) she was called to the stage and performed in the Midland Center for the Arts productions of “The Women” and “Mama Mia”. One superpower she is willing to admit is her ability to organize. Aside from dance, she is an exercise enthusiast who has more athletic wear than she cares to admit. She is currently teaching Mat Pilates, Springwall, and looks forward to adding Reformer to her repertoire soon! If and when there is any down time, she enjoys watching any and all dance and cooking/baking shows, gardening, and walking with her husband in her neighborhood with their misbehaved dog.

Dean/Black is thrilled to have Julie on staff for our 2023/2024 dance season!
