Gloria G. Dean

Founder

Gloria G. Dean is a master graduate and certified member of Chicago National Association of Dance Masters of America. She has studied dance in New Mexico, Chicago, Toronto, New York, California, and throughout Michigan. Gloria is also an examined and certified member of Dance Masters of America in New York and Dance Masters of Michigan, Inc. and Chicago Dance Masters.

Gloria performed liturgical dance in the churches of Midland and throughout Michigan for 32 years. Gloria was a dance therapist for 12 years for the Saginaw County Mental Health Services of Saginaw. She was also a dance therapist for Mental Health at Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center 22 years. Gloria also has given several lectures on dance therapy and its benefits throughout Michigan.

Gloria and her daughter, Sandra, formed the dance company, Dance Theatre Unlimited in 1985. The dance troupe performed numerous programs throughout Michigan and auditioned to perform at Wayne State University’s Annual Young Folks Concert when it first began. The troupe also put on their own Young Folks concert for Midland children at the Grace A. Dow Library auditorium. The current troupe travels, competes, and performs annually. They also travel to New York City and Chicago every season to take classes and see Broadway Shows.

Gloria has taught for the Adult Continuing Education in Midland and taught ballet at Delta University. Gloria also choreographed ballets for other studios throughout Michigan. Many of her works were used by other teachers. Gloria wrote and produced a video on mental illness that was entered in the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in San Diego, where it won first place. Gloria is also a registered and certified hypnotherapist and has been a dance counselor for summer dance camps.

Gloria has studied ballet, tap, acrobatics, dances from India, Spanish, modern dances, jazz, Hawaiian, Tahitian, Middle-Eastern, theatre, ballroom, pantomime characterization, and line precision. She has also studied French, Russian, and Cecchetti ballet methods.
