Alex Black - Hip-Hop, Boys Classes, Jazz
Alex Black graduated from Midland High School and attended Wayne State University as a BFA dance major, talent scholar and Allesee Award recipient. He was a member of the WSU Dance Company ONE and toured the state of Michigan and Canada in the production of Dance Africa Detroit. Alex also performed a leading role in the 2006 Allesee Artist in Residence, Melissa Allen’s Tango and also 2007 Allesee Artist in Residence, Sean Curran’s Coda.
Alex has also had various roles in such musicals as Peter Pan, Music
Man, Gypsy, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, 42nd
Street, Chorus Line, Man of La Mancha, Bye
Bye Birdie, Anne Frank, and Romeo and Juliet.
He has also choreographed for several musicals and dance performances.
Alex has studied in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Orlando, Detroit and at many numerous conventions. He was also a member of the Dance Theatre Unlimited for eight years where he competed and performed. Alex also received many scholarships and awards at workshops and conventions.
Alex just finished the 2008-09 tour of the Broadway show Movin'
Out. He danced ensemble and understudied the role of Tony.
Aftere a summer of teaching in Canada, Alex is joining the dance cast
of Royal Carribean Cruise Lines where his home base
is Miami.
